![]() ![]() But moving one notch up pretty much murdered my VRAM usage, Causing massive amounts of stutter. The only way to get it down below that was to drop to the most basic textures and etc. With High TexturesĬan also verify on TWO systems with 2gb cards Ultra + 1080p was unplayable, VRAM pegged over at 2004MB. Went and found the Watch Dogs comparison i spoke ofĬonsumes 2.3gb of VRAM at 1440p. Give it 6 months, The 960 Ti or whatever will probubly be loaded with 4gb of VRAM for $250 and the 980 Ti will probubly have 8gb (At $1000) The higher you push that bar, the more you need to push it higher. ![]() Visual gains are not always linear in terms of performance requirements. Its just how it is.įolks are just mad because until about January of this year the opinion was "2gb is all the VRAM you'll ever need" and now thats simply not the case, For whatever reason, Games want more than 2gb of VRAM, Yes its probubly partially because the new consoles have a lot of Shared RAM to use, but it could also be that simply put, to push graphical fidelity higher this is specifically what was needed. ![]() insert something here.Be it more shader units or VRAM or whatever. The thing I dont get is that I've seen this happen before over and over again, Suddenly theres a big jump in specs needed to run the newest games and a chasm appears, and usually that chasm includes even fairly recent hardware because the latest games require well. Its also likewise not fair to compare Crysis 3 which is a tiny small fairly linear world with an open world game Perhaps we need to accept that not every game is Crysis 3. We keep bringing up Crysis 3 over and over and over, That horse is getting a bit thin from all the beating. Shadow of Mordor on the other hand I can see using 3gb of VRAM for High settings(Which is all the footage we've seen so far.), the stuff I've seen from the game looks very good, and it does appear to have large expansive worlds that would require large textures. Poor optimization is Watch_Dogs, Where folks like me had to drop to an Xbox 360-level of graphics quality to get it -somewhat- running and it still stuttered like a you know what because its using an absurd amount of VRAM. The issue is people are crying poor optimization when theres no evidence of that yet. For all we know they could look absolutely stupendous and actually be WORTH a 6GB GPU. And furthermore we do NOT know what the Ultra textures look like as they are going to be a day 1 patch thing, So no, Not even the reviewers are getting to see them. ![]()
